Born in Auckland in 1919, Ron Stenberg studied at Elam School of Fine Art and then ws called up for service in World War II, A painter, printmaker and teacher, he exhibited at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts from 1949 to 1960. In 1954 the travelled to Sweden and then to Scotland where he lived for next 40 years, lecturing at the Jordanstone College of Fine Art in Dundee for 30 years. During his time in Scotland he exhibited with the Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Scottish Watercolour Society, The Glasgow Institute and the Royal Society of British Artists, London. After returning to New Zealand in the 1990s he exhibited regularly in Auckland.

Our database records art auction sales of works by Ron Stenberg from 1992 and in total 329 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 257 (78%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $10,636 for Judges in Procession sold by International Art Centre in March 2002.
