Born in Victoria in 1876, Alice Bale studied with May Vale and at the Melbourne National Gallery School under Fred McCubbin and Bernard Hall. She was an active member of the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and the Victorian Artists Society. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, London in 1933 and at the Paris Salon in 1939.
