Jane Martin was born in Victoria in 1949 and grew up in England and Scarborough, Western Australia. She studied painting at the Perth Technical College Western Australia from 1965 to 1967 and at the Western Australia Institute of Technology in 1969. From 1982 she taught painting at secondary and tertiary level in WA for 9 years, and then in 1991 spent six months painting in France and in 1993 painted in England and Scotland for six months. Since 1993 she has shown in over 30 solo and group exhibitions in Perth and provincial areas of Western Australia.
