Born in Melbourne in 1963, Louise Hearman studied at the Victorian College of the Arts from 1982 to 1984. She held her first solo exhibition in Melbourne since 1985, and the following year completed a large mural on the exterior of a large Melbourne public building. She won the 2014 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and in 2016, she won the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize. In 2017 her first retrospective exhibition was held at TarraWarra Museum of Art featuring painting and drawings from her 25-year career.

We have records of art auction sales by Louise Hearman from 1991 and in total 154 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 93 (60%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $19,636 for Untitled 1325 sold by Menzies in February 2017. This year one work has been offered for sale.
