Born in Melbourne in 1927, Jean Gray studied at the Swinburne Technical College, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and at the Glasgow School of Arts in the UK. A realist painter, sculptor and teacher she works in oil, watercolour and sculpts in stone, timber and bronze. She was a member of the Victorian Artists Society and the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. She has been a teacher at the Council of Adult Education, at secondary level and at the Victorian Artists Society.
