Born in Victoria in 1911, John Flexmore studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne from 1930-37 under Bernard Hall, Charles Wheeler and W.B. McInnes. After war service he mostly painted watercolour landscapes, but was later commissioned to paint oil portraits. He held one-man shows at the Athenaem Gallery, Melbourne regularly until 1970.
