Born in Australia in 1965, Tony De Lautour arrived in New Zealand in 1967. He studied at the University of Canterbury and graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture in 1988. In 1994 he had his first solo exhibition, and the following year won the Visa Gold Art Award. A painter and sculptor, his work has been shown in public exhibitions in Te Manawa (Palmerston North), The Waikato Museum of Art & History in Hamilton, and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Plymouth.
