Born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1946 Liz Coats studied at University of Auckland Elam School of Fine Arts, Melbourne State Collegs and the University of New South Wales. She has lived in Sydney since 1974. An abstract artist working in oil, watercolour and acrylic, She has exhibited in Melbourne and Sydney since 1977 and overseas in Slovenia in 2001. Liz Coats was awarded a Visual Arts Board Grant on four occasions and has also received other art awards.She has been a lecturer in painting at many tertiary institutions in Australia and New Zealand from the late 1980s to the 1990s.
