Born in New Zealand in 1892, Low was one of Australia's best known political cartoonists. Following a period when he contributed to Melbourne's 'New Idea' and the 'Bulletin' he went to England and became the top cartoonist for the Beaverbrook Press during the period of that organisation's supremacy in London. His most famous character was Colonel Blimp.
