Born in Melbourne in 1951, Deborah Klein ws awarded a Bachelor of Arts, Printmaking from the Chisholm Institute of Technology in 1984 and a Graduate Diploma of Fine Art from the Gippsland Insitute of Advanced Education. She was also awarded an Master of Visual Arts from Monash University in 1997. studied extensively in Melbourne. A painter and printmaker, she lived in London from 1973 to 1980. Deborah Klein has held regular solo exhibitions of her printmaking, painting and drawing since 1987. Her exhibition The Pirate Jenny Prints toured regional galleries and commercial galleries throughout Australia from 1989 to 1992. Her work was included in People in a Landscape, a survey exhibition of contemporary Australian prints touring 10 Asian and European countries from 2000 to 2004. Her work has been selected for many other group exhibitions including Place Made, at the National Gallery of Australia in 2004. Deborah Klein has lectured in Printmaking and Drawing at RMIT University since 1999 and currently lives in Melbourne.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,400 for The Mystical Marriage of the Two Saint Catherines (Diptych) sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in February 2006.
