Barbara Sherwood (1921-2021), was a Sydney artist working mostly in the medium of printmaking and painting. She gained an Associate Diploma in Visual Arts from Nepean College of Advanced Education, 1984, and was an active member of the ‘Print Circle’, a group of printmakers in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Sherwood was also a member of the ‘Life Drawing Group’, part of the Blue Mountains Creative Arts Centre, Glenbrook. Her work is figurative, exploring the different facets of the media of drawing, painting and printmaking. Themes of her work include the human form, still life, and images drawn from her time in Papua New Guinea in the 1940s and 1950s, Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
