About Victor Zhang
Born in China c1932, Victor Zhang graduated in 1953 from Beijing's Central Academy of Fine Arts with a Bachelor Degree with Honors in 1954, he volunteered to work in the remote Xinjiang region in North West China. He remained there for 30 years, marrying and raising a family. As well as painting he served as an Art Editor for the Xinjiang region newspapers and magazines. In 1983 he migrated with his family to Adelaide. Painting mainly Australian landscapes, he has participated in major exhibitions in Adelaide and international seminars in Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Beijing.
The total number of works by Victor Zhang offered for sale by auction since 1986 is 13, of which 10 (77%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,500 for The Travellers sold by Leonard Joel in April 1987. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2004.
