Frederick Sedgwick arrived in Wellington circa 1893 and studied under James M. Nairn at Wellington Technical College. He was was the founder of the 'Silverstream. School' - a group of artists whose headquarters were at. Silverstream a suburb of Upper Hutt, in the lower North Island of New Zealand. He exhibited at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts almost every yer between 1900 and 1920.
