Born in 1936 Dolly Nampijinpa became a leader and advocate for the Warlpiri people of the Northern Territory. As a linguist she was well known in the political and educational circles and as a lands rights activist. As a painter her works are included in several major public collections. She chaired the Warlukurlanga Artists Association and had a close association with the Central Lands Council.
