About Alessie G. Kane
Alessie G. Kane was born in 1892 at Tenterfield, Australia, the second child of Irish immigrants. Alessie probably inherited her interest in painting from her mother. Painting in oils, her subjects were usually still life and lansdscapes. The Howard Hinton Collection at the University of New England in NSW holds tow of her floral works.
We have records of art auction sales by Alessie Kane from 1974 and in total 26 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 16 (62%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,200 for Harbour Scene sold by Mason Gray in March 1989.
