About Arthur Cecil Hipwell
Born in England in 1894, Arthur Hipwell studied at University of Auckland Elam School of Fine Arts and Canterbury School of Art. As well as a landscape and surrealist painter working in oil, charcoal, watercolour, he was active between 1931 and 1960. He also taught art at secondary level for a number of years.
