Born in Tasmania in 1951, David Keeling moved to Melbourne in 1970 to attend the Swinburne Film and Television School, returning to Tasmania in 1973 to study at the Tasmanian School of Art and then at the Alexander Mackie School of Art in Sydney. He completed a Master degree in Fine Art at RMIT in 1999. . He has held solo exhibitions of his work since 1987, and has won several awards. In 2015 The University of Tasmania held a survey exhibition covering over three decades of the artist’s career.
