Born in Christchurch in 1948, Neil Dawson studied at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, and was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Sculpture from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne in 1973. A sculptor, working in stainless steel, steel and aluminium, he has created major public installations in Wellington, Christchurch, Paris and Brisbane.
