A New Zealand landscape and equine painter working in oils, George Fodor was active in the Dunedin region from the 1860s to 1890s. Amongst the artist's societies, he exhibited with the Canterbury Society of Arts in 1889 and 1890, the Otago Art Society and also had works included in the Colonial and Indian exhibition, London in 1886, the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition in 1888 and the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition in Dunedin 1889-90.
We have records of art auction sales by George Fodor from 1984 and in total 19 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 16 (84%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,719 for A 'Gaucho' sold by International Art Centre in October 1999. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021.
