.James Fitzgerald was born in Britain and is known to have lived in both Auckland and Christchurch. Mainly a watercolourist, he worked as an architectural draughtsman, lithographic artist and art teacher. He exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington from 1926 to 1944 and less frequently with the Auckland Society of Arts and The Canterbury Society of Arts.
