Norah Simpson was born in Sydney in 1895. She studied under Dattilo Rubbo 1911 and travelled to London with her parents in 1912. In London, she studied at the Westminster Technical Institute and visited Paris where she studied the works of past masters. She returned to Sydney in 1913, and after two years returned permanently to England. In London she studied at the Westminster Technical Institute and in 1919, lived and worked in Glasgow and was in Paris in 1920. She married in 1920 (aged 25) and gave up painting after the birth of her son. She died in North Devon, England in 1974.
