About Tony Costa
Born in Sydney in 1955, Costa studied in Sydney at the Julian Ashton School, the Royal Art Society in 1978 and the Sculpture Centre in 1979. He travelled and worked in Europe in 1980-81. In 1986 he completed Postgraduate studies at the City Art Institute Sydney. He is a Member of the Society of Sculptors and the Royal Art Society with whom he has exhibited. He has held solo exhibitions since 1977 in Sydney and Switzerland. He has been a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize on four occasions and the winner in 2019, a finalist in the the Wynne Prize twice, the Sulman prize, and the Dobell prize for Drawing on four occasions.
