Born in South Australia in 1877, Baker-Clack worked for the 'Perth Morning Herald' covering events in the goldfields area. He later moved to France where he studied under Jean Paul Laurens. He exhibited at the New Salon and the Salon des Independents and became a member of the Sickert's London Group.
