Painter and printmaker Clive Stoward was born in Adelaide in 1909, studied at the South Australian School of Art from 1924 to 1927 specialising in oils and watercolours. In the early 1950s he was art teacher at LeFevre Boys Technical School in Port Adelaide, and resigned in 1954 to become a full time artist.

The total number of works by Clive Stoward offered for sale by auction since 1976 is 27, of which 13 (48%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,000 for Flinders Ranges sold by Leonard Joel in July 1988. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022. Works by Clive Stoward are held by the Art Gallery of South Australia.
