Born in Melbourne in 1929, Isabel Davies studied as a mature student at the National Gallery School in 1966 and 1967. She held her first solo exhibition in 1969 in Melbourne, and since then has had solo and group exhibitions in the eastern states of Australia. She was a founding member and is a life member of the Women’s Art Register. She is known for her works in sculpture and assemblage as well as pencil drawings.
We have records of art auction sales by Isabel Davies from 1991 and in total 16 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 11 (69%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,640 for Red Relief 1971 sold by Leonard Joel in June 2010. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021. Works by Isabel Davies are held by the Heide Museum of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery and a further two major public national galleries (see list below).
