Born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1917, is mostly a self taught artist, apart from a course on drawing at the National Gallery School in Melbourne. A printmaker, (etchings, mezzotints and monotypes), and a painter in oil, watercolour and pastel, Eddy exhibited his work in Melbourne and at Print Council of Australia exhibitions.
We have records of art auction sales by George Eddy from 1981 and in total 30 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 21 (70%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,400 for St. Andrews Hillend sold by Leonard Joel in August 1994. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by George Eddy are held by the National Gallery of Australia.
