John Borrack was born in Melbourne in 1933. He studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology obtaining an Associate Diploma of Fine Art (Painting and Drawing) in 1960 and a Fellowship Diploma of Fine Art (Painting and Drawing) in 1972. He has studied and painted extensively in France, Spain, U.K. and Italy, travelling to Europe in 1964, 1975, 1982 and 1999 and the USA 1993 and 1995. He lectured in Painting and Drawing at Melbourne State College (University of Melbourne) 1969 to 1982. Since 1982 he has painted full-time. He works in watercolour, gouache and oil and is a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.
John Borrack is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1974 of 505, of which 345 (68%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $5,500 for Panorama Towards Cairns sold by Elder Fine Art in March 2005. This year one work has been offered for sale.
