Born in Victoria in 1903, Justin Gill studied at the Bell-Shore School in Melbourne. A modernist painter working mainly in oil and mixed media, and a graphic artist, his work is represented at a number of Victorian regional galleries. In 1983 a retrospective of his work was held at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
We have records of art auction sales by Justin Gill from 1980 and in total 41 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 23 (56%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,000 for The Crippled Son sold by Leonard Joel in July 1986. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Justin Gill are held by the National Gallery of Australia.
