Little is know of the life and artistic career of South Australian artist James Irving. A traditional landscape artist working in oils, lived and worked in the 1870s-1900s in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, before returning the South Australia in the mid 1900s where he passed away in the Adelaide suburb of Goodwood on 25 February 1906.
