About Leif Nilsson
Born in Goteberg, Sweden in 1937, Leif Nilsson studied under his artist father, later tutored by an ex pupil of Matisse (name unknown) and had became a full time artist by the age of 18. He lived in Spain and Greece before arriving in Australia in 1969. A colourist and abstract expressionist painter, Nilsson has exhibited his work since the age of 22 in Sweden, Australia, Adelaide, Malaysia and Singapore. Leif Nilsson returned to Sweden in 2004 in poor health and passed away in the following year. He is represented in institutional galleries in Sweden and Australia, and the Tasmanian state gallery.
