Neil Palmer was born in London in 1968. He studied at Trent University, Nottingham and was awarded a bachelor of honours degree in fine art he was encouraged to experiment and his practise evolved from painting to printmaking and thence to installation. After graduating he worked as a prop maker and scenic artist in film and television. He has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. After settling in New Zealand 1998, his practice reverted to painting. He is known for his meticulously detailed large scale paintings of plants which he has exhibited in solo shows since 1998.
