About Liz Maw
Liz Maw was born in 1966 in Wellington and grew up in Taradale. She completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at the Eastern Institute of Technology Hawkes Bay in 1995, and a Master of Fine Art at the Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland, in 2002. She lives and works in Auckland and is known for her extremely large-scale portraits that blend hyper-realism with fantasy. Her work has been exhibited in Auckland Art Gallery and City Gallery Wellington and she exhibits commercially in Auckland.
We have records of art auction sales by Liz Maw from 2007 and in total 67 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 47 (70%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $113,724 for The Naiad sold by Webb's in November 2021. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Liz Maw are held by the Auckland Art Gallery and National Gallery of Australia.
