Born in Thames, New Zealand in 1901, Rhona Haszard grew up in Hokitika on the South Island, and studied at the Canterbury College School of Art. In 1921 she became a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and the following year she exhibited with the Canterbury and Auckland art societies. In 1926 Rhona Haszard sailed to Europe and studied in Paris, exhibiting at the Old Salon. In 1927 she travelled with her husband to Egypt where she worked and exhibited until her accidental death from a fall in Alexandria in 1931.

The total number of works by Rhona Haszard offered for sale by auction since 1988 is 35, of which 27 (77%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $28,742 for Still Life: Magnolias sold by International Art Centre in September 2014. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021. Works by Rhona Haszard are held by the Auckland Art Gallery, Museum Of New Zealand and a further three major public national galleries (see list below).
