Born in Melbourne in 1956, Bill Hay completing a Diploma of Fine Art at RMIT, Melbourne in 1976 and studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1982-83. A painter and printmaker, he has painted several murals at various Melbourne venues and has designed theatre sets. Hay has exhibited in Melbourne and Sydney, his first solo show being in 1985. He has been a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize in 1988, 1989 and 2005.
