Born in Tasmania in 1948, Christine Hiller studied at the University of Tasmania Art School. A teacher, portraitist and painter, she has exhibited throughout Tasmania Her work has been included in the Archibald Prize from 1982 to1986 and the Glover Prize in 2005. Kit Hiller was awarded the Portia Geach Memorial Award administered by the National Trust's S. H. Ervin Gallery on three occasions, in 1986, 1987 and 2009 and was awarded Tasmanian of the Year in 1987.
