Born in England in 1853, Joseph Bennett studied at the Manchester School of Arts, and in Paris before coming to Sydney in 1886. Original member of Australian Watercolour Institute and was Vice president of the Art Society of NSW where he exhibited portraits, landscapes and still lifes.
