Believed to be of Dutch extraction and resident of Sydney from 1890 - 1896. Delawarr was in Perth between 1898 and 1899 and was a member of the West Australian Societey of Arts in 1898. A prolific landscape artist, Val Delawarr is known to have painted in New South Wales, Western Australia, and Tasmania. His works were featured in an important art exhibition, "The Colonial Eye" at Art Gallery of Western Australia in 1979.
