eX de Medici was born in 1959 in the Riverina district of New South Wales. Her broad practice incorporates performance and installation art, tattooing, photography, painting and drawing. Her first solo exhibition was in 1985 in Auckland, New Zealand, and since then she has exhibited in both solo and group shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, London and Singapore, She has won numerous awards and been placed as a finalist in the Dobell Prize for Drawing at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney in 2002 and the University of Queensland National Artists' Self-Portrait Prize. She has been awarded residencies including several with the CSIRO Entomology Division at Black Mountain Canberra, as well as with the Dunedin Museum and Gallery and the Visual Arts/Craft Board of the Australia Council.
