Born in Melbourne in 1925, Claudia Forbes-Woodgate studied with John Godson 1940 to 1942, Henry Edgecombe 1946-1948 and G. K. Townshend from 1948 to 1958. Between 1971 and 1996 she travelled and worked in the UK, Canada, USA, China, Greece and Turkey. She was a member of Australian Watercolour Institute from 1965, and a member of Royal Art Society of NSW from 1958. Claudia Forbes-Woodgate was an Art Gallery of NSW Wynne Landscape Art Prize finalist in 1958, 1959 and 1960.
