About John Tiplady
John Tiplady was born in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England in 1938. An impressionist painter he is a mostly self-taught artist, working in oil, watercolour, gouache and pastel. He was a finalist in the Wynne prize in 1969. He is a fellow and a past vice president of the Royal South Australian Society of Artists, and has exhibited widely.
John Tiplady is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1984 of 409, of which 268 (66%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,400 for Hunters Jumping (A Tryptich) sold by Elder Fine Art in October 2006. This year 13 works have been offered for sale.
