Born in England in 1918, Rhoda Boissevain, was the first wife of British and Australian artist William (Wim) Boissevain and they came to Australia in 1947. She is known for her portrait paintings, frequently of women and children. In 1960 she was runner-up in the Rubinstein Prize for portraiture and in 1963 she was a finalist in the Art Gallery of NSW Archibald Prize for a portrait of Dr. Bronek Stein. She also taught at Perth Technical College in the 1960s.
