Born in Ipswich, Queensland in the 1868, Gibson studied at the Brisbane Technical College. She left Australia for Paris in 1905, remaining in Paris until the outbreak of World War II. After a period in London she returned to Australia in 1947. She exhibited at the Royal Academy until 1923, at the Salon d’Automne (New Salon) between 1922 and 1934 and at the Salon des Artistes Français (Old Salon) between 1912 and 1939. She painted landscapes, portraits and miniatures, and had several solo exhibitions in Australia on her return. Her work is represented in the Queensland and Victorian state collections.
