About Claire Beynon
Writer and artist Claire Beynon was born in South Africa in 1960, She enrolled for a Bachelor of Art (Fine Arts) at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg in 1979 and graduated in 1982 with a Distinction in Printmaking and the Faculty’s Certificate of Merit. In 1983 she was accepted onto the postgraduate Printmaking programme at the Chelsea School of Art, London, and spent several months there working alongside experienced printmakers. Her first solo exhibition was in Johannesburg in 1984 and since then has exhibited regularly in solo and group shows in New Zealand, South Africa, the UK and the Republic of China. She migrated to Dunedin from Cape Town in 1994. and since then has exhibited throughout New Zealand.
The total number of works by Claire Beynon offered for sale by auction since 2003 is 18, of which 5 (28%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,719 for Sit Awhile sold by International Art Centre in July 2003. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
