Born in Victoria in 1887, Clarice Marjoribanks Beckett studied drawing under Fred McCubbin and later at the Melbourne National Gallery School, and with Max Meldrum, whose theories she espoused. From 1919 she lived in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Beaumaris and her best known works are landscapes and suburban view of her surrounds.
