Born in Scarborough, England, in 1902 Harry Pugmire was a painter, picture-framer and gilder. He worked in the Sydney area in the 1940s to the 1970s, and exhibited for the Wynne Prize on four occasions. Being a member of the Royal Art Society, Harry regularly exhibited his works with his contemporary artists including William Dobell, Norman Lindsay, Arthur Boyd and others. He made his living from from the sale of his art works from from the 1960s. He died in Nelson Bay NSW on the 25th April, 1971 aged 69 years.
