Born in 1928, an artist, printmaker and illustrator, Mary Hammond studied in Perth during the 1940s and at the National Gallery School in Melbourne from 1951 to 1955. She is associated with the Social Realist Group, with many of her commissions centred around trade unions and political organisations. Hammond exhibited with the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors from 1986.
