Nicole Allen was born in Melbourne in 1967 and grew up in Mornington Peninsula area. After schooling she studied Visual Arts at Chisholm Institute in Frankston, majoring in Sculpture. At the completion of her studies, she travelled in Africa for 18 months, and was inspired by the stone carvings and cultural renditions of primitive art in Zimbabwe. She creates her sculptures using steel, aluminium, and granite. Nicole Allen has exhibited extensively throughout metropolitan and regional Australia and Hong Kong, holding her first solo exhibition in Melbourne in 1997. She has also been commissioned to create artworks for public spaces.
