About Herbert Rose
Born in Victoria in 1890, Herbert Rose studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, and later in Paris. He travelled widely, spending some time in Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East, where he died after contracting smallpox. He is bBest known as a landscape artist and etcher.
We have records of art auction sales by Herbert Rose from 1971 and in total 149 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 127 (85%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $10,200 for Le Ruy, France sold by Leonard Joel in March 2012. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
