About Peter Longhurst
Peter Longhurst, a watercolour painter of Australian flora and fauna was born in Birmingham, UK, in 1922, and arrived in Australia in 1967. He has held a number of solo shows in Sydney and London. He paints mainly on commission for calendar and greeting card designs. Two of his bird of paradise drawings were selected by UNICEF, New York, for the 1978 greeting card range.
The earliest auction listing we have for Peter Longhurst is in 1977 and in total 93 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 51 (55%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,560 for White Tailed Dunnarts; Spotted-Tailed Quolls; Australian Frilled Lizard; Black Falcon; Little Eagles Australian Peregrin sold by Bay East Auctions in July 2011. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2021.
