Born in Victoria in 1940, Bill Walls studied in Melbourne, and worked as a designer with the ABC from 1966-1972. A painter, screen printer and etcher, illustrator and teacher, he depicts the Australian landscape and its historical buildings in his work. He has held solo exhibitions since 1970. Between 1975 and 1985 he provided the illustrations for seven limited edition sketch books. During this time he travelled to Europe, spending time in Germany to train in advanced etching techniques.
The total number of works by Bill Walls offered for sale by auction since 1982 is 38, of which 19 (50%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,402 for Resting Kangaroos (2) sold by Davidson Auctions in March 2011. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Bill Walls are held by the National Gallery of Australia.
